Scheduled flights to Finland from Europe in winter season 2023/24

Finland is a popular destination for winter travel. We are excited to share information about new and returning flight connections from European destinations to our wonderland of snow and ice.

Austria

Austrian Airlines has opened new routes to Finnish Lapland. The airline will operate regular flights from Vienna to Rovaniemi Airport which serves destinations of Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi, and charter flights to Kittilä Airport which serves Levi, Ylläs, Muonio, and Enontekiö destinations during the winter months of 2023-2024.

Finnish national carrier, Finnair, continues its year-round operations from Vienna to Helsinki with two daily flights. Additionally, the city of Innsbruck will be connected to Helsinki from January to March 2024.

Ryanair also offers regular flights from Vienna to Helsinki during the winter season, with a flight frequency of four times a week.

Belgium

Finnish national carrier, Finnair, offers daily flights from Brussels to Helsinki, operating between two to three times a day year-round.

Ryanair will continue its winter route operations from Brussels Charleroi to the Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations, starting in late October 2023. These flights will operate three times per week until the end of March 2024. Ryanair also provides regular flights between Charleroi and Helsinki several times a week.

France

France has excellent flight connections for the upcoming winter season, along with some new route openings. For instance, Air France is connecting Paris and Helsinki with two daily flights. During the upcoming winter season, Air France will also operate direct flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations three times a week starting at the end of November and 1-2 weekly flights to Kittilä Airport, which serves, in turn, Ylläs, Levi, Muonio, and Enontekiö destinations starting from December until the end of March.

EasyJet is introducing a brand new route between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Rovaniemi airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations in December and January, with two flights per week.

Finnish national carrier Finnair will maintain its operations from Paris (CDG) to Helsinki with four daily flights. Finnair also offers regular flights from Nice to Helsinki with twice-weekly frequency.

Ryanair will also provide flights to Helsinki from Paris (BVA) with a flight frequency of two times a week.

Transavia has scheduled flights from Paris (ORY) to Ivalo Airport which serves  Saariselkä, Inari, and Utsjoki destinations for the entire winter season of 2023-2024. These flights will operate once a week on Saturdays.

Germany

Germany undeniably boasts excellent airline connections to Finland from various cities and regions.

For instance, Eurowings will operate five seasonal winter flights from Germany to Finland. Berlin and Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations will be connected three times a week from January until early April. Flights from Dusseldorf to Rovaniemi are planned with three weekly flights starting from early December 2023.

Dusseldorf will also offer Eurowings connections to Kittilä Airport which serves Ylläs, Levi, Muonio, and Enontekiö destinations twice a week from December, as well as to Ivalo Airport which serves Saariselkä, Inari, and Utsjoki destinations and Kuusamo airport which serves Ruka and Salla resorts with a once-a-week flight frequency. Eurowings also continues its regular flights to Helsinki from Berlin three times a week.

Lufthansa is introducing a brand new route from Munich to Finnish Oulu Airport which is serving Oulu region, Syöte, and Kemi destinations twice a week.

Lufthansa has also scheduled flights from Frankfurt to Ivalo Airport which serves Saariselkä, Inari, and Utsjoki destinations, Frankfurt to Kuusamo Airport (Ruka and Salla resorts), and Munich to Kittilä Aiport which serves Ylläs, Levi, Muonio, and Enontekiö destinations. Additionally, Lufthansa provides daily flights to Helsinki from Frankfurt and Munich airports.

Finnish national carrier Finnair offers daily connections to Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Munich, and Frankfurt from Helsinki.

Ireland

Finnish national carrier Finnair offers daily year-round flights connecting Dublin and Helsinki. These flights are code-share flights, available to passengers of British Airways as well.

Additionally, Ryanair is planning to introduce regular scheduled flights from Dublin to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations. The route will be operational from the end of October to the end of March, with four flights per week.

Italy

EasyJet will connect Italian Naples and Rovaniemi Airport serving Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations during December-January 2023/2024 with a new route. Flights will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Additionally, EasyJet will establish connections between Milan (MXP) and Rovaniemi, with flights twice a week from November 2023 to January 2024.

Finnish national carrier Finnair also offers regular flights to Helsinki from Milan and Rome, operating daily.

Ryanair is set to open a new route to Rovaniemi Airport serving Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations from Milan (BGY) for the winter season of 2023-2024. Ryanair also provides regular flights twice a week from Milan (BGY) to Lappeenranta, a city located in the heart of beautiful Finnish Lakeland. In addition, Ryanair operates the Milan (BGY) – Helsinki route with five weekly flights.

The Netherlands

A completely new route will open from the Netherlands to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations, during the winter season of 2023-2024 when EasyJet will operate flights from Schiphol to Rovaniemi once a week in December and January.

Additionally, Finnish Tampere will become more accessible from Amsterdam as AirBaltic increases its route frequency. This route will operate regularly throughout the entire winter season.

Finnish national carrier Finnair operates daily year-round flights from Amsterdam to Helsinki, with multiple flights per day.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines also offers daily year-round flights from Amsterdam to Helsinki, with multiple flights per day. In addition to Helsinki, KLM has regular scheduled flights to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations twice a week for the upcoming winter season.

Spain

Finland is set to receive a record number of flights from Spain during the upcoming winter season. For instance, one of the world's oldest airlines, Iberia, will operate two regular weekly flights from Madrid to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations from December to February.

Another Spanish airline, Vueling, is expanding its offerings to Finland as well. Vueling will introduce two new routes to Finland from Barcelona during the upcoming winter season of 2023-2024. One destination will be Helsinki, and the other will be Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations. The Helsinki route will operate from October to March, three times per week, while the Rovaniemi route will operate twice a week during December and January.

AirBaltic, in turn, offers flights to Tampere from Malaga and Tenerife with a frequency of two flights per week. Tampere is also connected to Las Palmas with one weekly flight.

Finnish national carrier Finnair currently operates flights to several Spanish cities. The Barcelona – Helsinki and Madrid – Helsinki routes are operated daily, with flights code-shared with Iberia. Additionally, there is a regular Malaga – Helsinki route. Finnair also connects Helsinki with Tenerife, Las Palmas, and Alicante.

Norwegian has scheduled regular flights to Helsinki for the upcoming winter season from Malaga, as well as from Alicante, Tenerife, and Las Palmas.

Ryanair also offers flights to Helsinki from the Spanish city of Alicante throughout the winter season

Sweden

Sweden boasts excellent flight connections with Finland. For instance, the national carrier of Sweden and Denmark, Scandinavian Airlines SAS, offers frequent flights from Stockholm to Helsinki. The two capitals are connected daily with multiple flights each day. SAS also provides daily connections from Stockholm to Finnish coastal cities Turku and Vaasa.

Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) offers a daily connection from Helsinki to Stockholm (BMA) as well.

Finnish national carrier Finnair provides excellent connections to Helsinki from Sweden, with daily flights to Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Additionally, Norwegian operates daily flights on the Stockholm – Helsinki route, offering multiple departures each day except on Saturdays.

Switzerland

Flight connections from Switzerland to Finland are set to improve once again with Edelweiss starting flights from Zurich to Kuusamo Airport, which serves Ruka and Salla resorts in winter 2024. They will operate one weekly flight on Fridays from the beginning of February until late March. Edelweiss also offers flights from Zurich to Ivalo Airport which serves Saariselkä, Inari, and Utsjoki destinations once a week in February and March.

Finnish national carrier Finnair provides regular scheduled flights from Zurich and Geneva to Helsinki daily.

United Kingdom

EasyJet will offer flights to Rovaniemi and Kittilä destinations during the winter season of 2023/2024 from five British airports. For instance, Kittilä Airport which serves Ylläs, Levi, Muonio, and Enontekiö destinations will receive completely new direct flights from Manchester and London Gatwick. Starting on November 16th and continuing throughout the winter season, these flights will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. EasyJet will also continue its flights to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations from Bristol, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, and London Luton airports.

Finnish national carrier Finnair operates daily flights from London and Manchester to Helsinki, while the Edinburgh-Helsinki route offers four flights a week year-round. All Finnair flights are code-shared with British Airways.

Additionally, Norwegian offers four regular weekly flights from London Gatwick to Helsinki.

In the upcoming winter season, Ryanair will operate the route from London Stansted (STN) to Rovaniemi Airport which serves Rovaniemi, Pyhä, Luosto, and Kemi destinations five times a week from November to March. There will also be a completely new route connecting Rovaniemi and Liverpool twice a week during the winter season of 2023-2024. In addition, Ryanair offers daily flights connecting Helsinki with London Stansted.
