The Coast and Archipelago has a plenty of new accommodations available

In November 2021 a total of 55,417 hotel rooms were available in Finland, according to Statistics Finland 4,757 more than a year earlier. And there is more to come.
On the Finnish coast in Turku, the iconic Scandic Hamburger Börs has been hosting guests since 1894. The property was recently refurbished and again welcomes guests in a top location by the market square.
For those looking for some less traditional sleeping arrangements Herrankukkaro in Naantali might be of interest. Their Birdhouse opened in summer 2021 where you can expect a feather-soft sleep right on the shore. Alternatively, you can opt for a frosty sleep under a lean-to by the glow of a campfire. How does that sound?
In the northern archipelago of the Åland Islands, Silverskär Islands are building an extension in the traditional archipelago style. The annex will have 6 rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a joint meeting space. Sustainability plays a central role in the project: parts of old ships will be used for decoration; recycled window glass will be used, and the electricity partly sourced from solar panels. And the best part: When you make a reservation at Silverskär Islands, you get one of the three islands all to yourself!
The Finnish-American entrepreneur couple Kirsi and Mark Heidt who operate four Valkoinen Puu cafés in different locations, recently realized their newest project with the enchanting Secret Garden Guesthouse (information in Finnish) in Kauhajoki. The guesthouse has six unique rooms and large common areas. A curious detail: The guesthouse located in a former vicar's house from the 1890s is surrounded by a mischievous garden and carries the same name as the most popular cake in their cafés. The nearest café is close by, so make sure to stop by and taste the cake, too!
There is a reason why Hotel Rantakalla was built as one of the first accommodations in the sand dunes of Kalajoki in that exact location. The property offers spectacular views and, in the summer of 2022, will expand with the new apartment building Sapphire, including 23 high-quality apartments on five floors. Further a new terraced house Petäjistö is being built. All apartments will have an open-plan kitchen-living room, a sauna and a glazed balcony to admire that view when the sunset colors the sky.
Moving north along the coast, in Oulu the 1939 built Original Sokos Hotel Arina is undergoing a complete remodeling. The work is expected to be finalized by March 2022. The Green Key-certified hotel will renovate all the surfaces but saving usable elements, local artisans will for instance restore part of the furniture. The remodeling will bring stories from Oulu to life: About tar which brought wealth to the city, the wild and free salmon, and the fresh and light summer nights of the Northern city.
