The starring role in the joint campaign of Visit Finland and Lapland's regional tourism organizations is taken by the endearing reindeer named Vesku. This sympathetic character plays a pivotal role in the campaign, which has recently launched with the aim of raising awareness about Lapland's summer offers for active holidaymakers.
In a captivating social media initiative, the influencer reindeer, Vesku, known as @veskuthereindeer, showcases the best of Lapland's summer, exploring its picturesque landscapes together with followers from all over the world.
"We believe that reindeer really know how to live in harmony with nature: enjoying bright summer nights, breathing the cleanest air in the world, and savouring the finest aspects of the Arctic wilderness. These are fundamental elements contributing to Finnish happiness and well-being, which we aspire to share with tourists," expresses Heli Jimenez, Marketing Director at Visit Finland.
Vesku, the charismatic protagonist of the campaign, is a youthful male reindeer with a creamy coat, a resident of the Kujala reindeer farm in Kuusamo. Orphaned as a young reindeer, Vesku has thrived under the caring guardianship of humans and is accustomed to public appearances. In the summer of 2023, Vesku actively participated in the filming in Lapland alongside its owners.
"Throughout the filming process, Vesku has indulged in various activities, including forest walks, mountain climbing, yoga sessions, and simply basking in the joys of Lapland's summer. In other words, he enjoyed Lapland’s summer with all his heart," adds Jimenez.
Visit Finland collaborates on this awareness-raising campaign for Lapland's summer tourism with five regional tourism organizations: Ruka-Kuusamo, Visit Rovaniemi, Visit Levi, Visit Ylläs, and Lapland North Destinations. Together, we aim to showcase the unique and appealing facets of Lapland during the summer months.
