7 restaurants from Finland have achieved Michelin star rating in 2023
The highly anticipated Michelin Guide Nordic Countries for 2023 has been released in June. City of Turku in Finland took center stage as the prestigious Michelin stars were awarded, shining a spotlight on the country's culinary excellence.
This year's guide features an impressive selection of 271 restaurants, with an outstanding 81 of them earning the coveted Michelin star. Additionally, 34 restaurants were honored with the Bib Gourmand rating, while 38 received the esteemed Michelin Green Star, recognizing their commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
Among the exciting announcements, 14 new restaurants were welcomed into the Michelin-starred family, including Niko Lehto's Vår in Finnish Porvoo, which not only secured a Michelin star but also received the distinguished Michelin Green Star.
With seven exceptional Finnish restaurants making the list, including Palace, Kaskis, Demo, Finnjävel Salonki, Olo, Grön, and Vår, Finland's culinary prowess was showcased on an international stage. Each establishment encapsulates a unique dining experience, demonstrating their passion for culinary innovation and gastronomic perfection.
In Helsinki, also restaurant Bona Fide received the esteemed Bib Gourmand rating, offering an exceptional dining experience at a more accessible price point compared to traditional Michelin-starred restaurants.
Celebrating emerging talent, the Young Chef 2023 award was presented to Finn Jalmari Kunnas, the talented chef behind the exquisite dishes at Demo restaurant located in Helsinki.
